County Fermanagh – Contae Fhear Manach

The lakeland county is represented by John Delahunty, the son of a Fermanagh mother.

In his video, he shares the names, placenames and phrases that his mother Mary Alice McMahon, who moved to England 70 years ago, has passed on to him. He remembers drives from Larne through Tyrone to Lisnaskea and finally to Roslea. 

John lets us know about his mother’s escalating levels of surprise during the last year’s lockdowns, phrases that many Irish in Britain people will recognise – find out what they are below.
