Healthy Ageing Project: out on the road
Stage one: Visits to members and understanding needs
Currently we are visiting our member groups to introduce the project, and ourselves, in person.
There are no two centres the same, even if they are close in proximity, there are different clientele, events and funding for each organisation.
With this there are a range of requirements which can be heavily influenced by councils in different borough of London or parts of the country. This makes our stage one research and visits key to developing the project.
There are many nuances, ages and alliances within the groups that have been formed over many years.
As our members are the eyes and ears on the ground dealing directly with the elderly population, it is necessary to visit them as much as possible to steer the project in the right direction.
We have already been kindly invited to lunch clubs, befriending services, cafes, organisation's head offices and to speak with the lovely clients themselves.
This has been a massive opportunity and one we are very grateful for as it takes time and effort to accommodate for these things.
We don’t want to recreate the wheel or add massively to the already huge volunteer workload.
This project is about strengthening the current programmes, adding additional healthy ageing projects to current set-ups and creating alliances across centres and with charities.
