Aims

The aims of Nottingham Irish Studies Group (NISG) are:

  • to promote Irish arts and culture within the Irish community and the wider community
  • to provide a cultural, educational and social focus for the Irish community in Nottingham
  • to promote all Irish cultures, regardless of the religious beliefs or non–religious beliefs, ability or background of audience, artistes or participants.

Membership

Nottingham Irish Studies Group membership is open to anyone interested in Irish culture. Membership is free.

What we do

We organise events and short courses on various aspects of Irish culture, including history, politics, literature, storytelling and Irish language. We draw on our own skills, as well as having invited speakers.

We take an active part in Nottingham’s annual Irish St Patrick’s Day festival, running activities for children and adults.

We welcome invitations from other Irish cultural groups, and have worked with festivals, libraries, schools and other organisations in Britain and Ireland.
