A talk with Lauren Massey: Exploring Hannah Greally's true story of being a "mentally well, but unclaimed" patient.

After the roaring success of their last seminar, The Manchester Irish History Club welcome historian Lauren Massey back for ‘Unclaimed in Mullingar’: a History of Mental Health Institutions in Ireland.

The Manchester Irish History Club invites you to join us at the Irish World Heritage Centre in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, on Monday 27th October, from 7pm and explore the Irish history of mental health institutions & asylums through a true-story lens, uncovering what lead to the cultural shift we see today.

Discover ‘a mad person’s history of madness in Ireland’ with discussion drawing from the 'World Within Walls’ project about Monaghan District Lunatic Asylum and Hannah Greally's autobiographical book ‘Bird's Nest Soup’ about her time in the 1940s and 50s as a "mentally well, but unclaimed" patient in St. Loman's Hospital in Mullingar.
