Irish Cultural Centre 5 Black’s Road Hammersmith W6 9DT
Book your free spot Visit WebsiteIn this exhibition, the lived experiences of the conflict in and about Northern Ireland are expressed through unique but ordinary objects. It brings together many views through a range of loaned objects and their accompanying labels, all written in the words of those who own them.
The pop-up version offers insights into the full exhibition currently on show at The Peace Museum, Bradford.
There will also be the opportunity to bring your own object and participate in a workshop.
How did the conflict ‘in and about’ Northern Ireland affect people of Irish heritage living in Britain?
What were the everyday experiences of you, your family and your friends?
Did you keep anything that reminds you of your own or shared experiences?
If you have an ordinary object that was ‘transformed by the conflict’ or its meaning was changed for you, we invite you to bring it along to this workshop. Use this object to share your experience, or just bring yourself and your memories, or just come to listen to others.
Though this event considers the experiences of the Irish in Britain, people from any heritage or culture are welcome to attend and to reflect on how conflict impacts everyday experiences and objects.
This is a free event, book a spot online now.
This event is in partnership with the Irish in Britain, Healing Through Remembering, Royal College of Art and The Peace Museum.
