Preparations are in full swing for the highlight of our annual calendar, Christmas by Candlelight, and we're delighted to share a little more about the wonderful evening we have planned.
With rehearsals now underway, an exceptional line-up of performers and some very special guests joining us, this year's celebration promises to be one to remember.
Our much-loved Christmas by Candlelight concert returns this December, bringing together beautiful music, festive readings and the warmth of the Irish Heritage community for a truly special evening.
We're particularly excited to announce this year's distinguished guests!
For many years, we've had the pleasure of welcoming BBC broadcaster and author Petroc Trelawny as our presenter. With Petroc overseas this Christmas, we're absolutely delighted that acclaimed pianist and broadcaster Iain Burnside will be joining us to host this year's concert. Originally from Scotland, Iain is one of the UK's most respected classical pianists and accompanists, as well as a familiar voice to listeners of BBC Radio 3.
Our traditional festive readings are always a much-loved part of Christmas by Candlelight, and this year we're honoured to welcome three very special guests. We are delighted that Her Excellency Sonja Hyland, Ireland's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, will be joining us, continuing the wonderful tradition of Irish Ambassadors taking part in our Christmas celebrations. She will be joined by two familiar names from the world of arts and entertainment:
· Shevaun Wilder – Irish actor and theatre director, bringing her theatrical talents to our festive readings.
· Bob Geldof – The celebrated Irish musician, songwriter and humanitarian, who really needs no introduction!
