County Monaghan – Contae Mhuineacháin

Representing County Monaghan is Mairead Liston, the chairperson of the Council of Irish County Associations (CICA).

Many county associations are part of CICA, so it is particularly appropriate to have its chair Mairead, a proud Monaghan woman, feature in our series.

For many years Mairead has supplied nurses to healthcare providers and was elected CICA chair in 2020. Her favourite Monaghan spots include its beautiful lakes (there’s 130!) like Lough Muckno, as well as St Peter’s Tin Church, an attractive deconsecrated church made from tin.

CICA are very active in the community and work to promote all aspects of Irish culture. You can find out more about their St Patrick’s Day plans on their website
