Irish people everywhere were deeply saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria last week.

We at Irish in Britain extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to all those who have been affected by this humanitarian disaster. The thoughts of our membership are with the Turkish and Syrian people and all those delivering the emergency response at this tragic time.

Many people with connections to the region live and work among us in cities and towns across Britain. As fellow migrants Irish people stand with Britain’s Turkish and Syrian communities who are desperately seeking news about their families and friends.

Now is the time to ensure relief efforts reach far and wide through practical solidarity and support.

We remind all our friends, colleagues and supporters that they can support the relief effort through the Disaster Emergency Committee website here.
