We are very sad to report that Marion McCracken, who worked for the Federation of Irish Societies/Irish in Britain from 2002 until 2013, died on 24 March after a long illness.
Marion was our finance person and truly professionalised the muddled accounting system we had at the time. But Marion was much more than the wages, the income and expenditure or petty cash person. She had real talent and flair and, as the Federation expanded, she designed all our publicity material, annual reports, calendars, congress brochures and communications with members.
She worked closely with Sean Hutton and Ann Gould and the growing number of staff in new roles, organising congress and membership meetings. She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed helping members from all over the country with various issues.
Marion was a true team player, always willing to do whatever needed to be done with good grace, a smile and invariably a wry joke!
Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.
