About

My area of work is the Cuimhne Irish Memory loss project: supporting Cuimhne Champions to work together with our London–based organisations to develop memory loss inclusive and engaging activities; overseeing training of volunteers within services and ensuring that training is embedded in practice.

I have a longstanding interest in working with minority community groups and social justice organisations on issues of wellbeing, equality and inclusion. I am really excited to be able to work with volunteers within an organisation seeking innovative approaches to promote social inclusion and make the Irish the first memory–loss friendly community in the UK.

I have worked with charities for many years on advocacy, arts, community development, education and learning, equality and inclusion, health and wellbeing, heritage and volunteering projects.

I am interested in memories and oral history and my recent work, before joining Irish in Britain in September 2015, has involved recording life story interviews with talking therapists for British Library collections.

I also managed an oral history and heritage project for the Sheila McKechnie Foundation in partnership with heritage and social justice organisations.

I have enjoyed working on lots of projects involving volunteers and am volunteering myself with a number of charities, sitting on the board of the Victoria Climbie Foundation and Every Voice, editing the journal “Oral History” and chairing a frontline refugee support charity.
