Shane McHugh is Head of International Partnerships at the Royal Academy of Engineering. In his 10 years at the Academy, he has been responsible for developing and delivering £53m of international grant programmes, including major individual and institutional capacity building programmes under the Newton Fund and Global Challenges Research Fund.
Before joining the Academy he worked in the Embassy of Ireland, London and in the Irish Government’s Office of Science and Technology, where he focused on EU Framework Programme and standardisation policy.
He is currently on a part–time secondment at BEIS, where he is developing a UK Government international research and innovation strategy.
