My areas of expertise are the arts and culture in voluntary organisations and festivals.
Having grown up in the Irish community in Britain I have seen how the community and family fostered by Irish people in Britain has contributed to and enriched the lives of Irish people here in Britain and how this has forged and strengthened our culture worldwide.
I see culture as fundamental to the health, welfare and lives of all people. It’s not just a bit of music, a dance, a song we learnt at school or a half remembered poem, it is what defines us as Irish people and underpins how we approach things and how we are as a society.
That is why I am working to strengthen and recognise this culture through Irish in Britain.
Coming from a scientific background with a degree in Physics, I have worked for nine years as Development Officer for Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Prior to this, I worked for Irish Ferries.
I am a member of the Chartered Management Institute and have worked to develop strategy and policy within Comhaltas as well as through being a trustee of the Liverpool Irish Festival and St. Michael’s Irish Centre.
