Christmas by Candlelight’ is the next production from Irish Heritage this year it will welcome the Irish Baroque Orchestra Young Artistes. Accompanying them will be tenor, John Porter, who won the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival Bursary for voice in 2021 and soprano, Ellen Mawhinney, a former winner of the Irish Heritage Brackaville Bursary, also for voice, accompanied by our very own Frasier Hickland on Piano.
Frasier has performed with us three times now in the last 18 months and is a familiar face and a rare talent. Frasier, many will remember, won the accompanist’s award in 2021. St George’s Church has its very own famous organ and once again we will have Jacob Hughes playing this fantastic instrument to fill the rafters with everyone joining in the traditional Yuletide Carol singing. This will no doubt bring in the Christmas cheer with all participating heartily.
All of this will be compered by the fabulous Petroc Trelawny, who has graciously agreed to be part of our concert once again. Petroc, as everyone knows, is ‘the voice’ on BBC’s Radio 3 and we sincerely thank him for his time given to us.
The newly installed Ambassador of Ireland to the Court of St James, Martin Fraser, will read from his own chosen piece, carrying on a tradition started some years ago. We look forward to welcoming His Excellency to Irish Heritage.
Doors will open at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start and tickets are £20 with student tickets available for £5 and include a wine reception with mince pies and a concert programme.
If you are having difficulty purchasing online, tickets will be available to buy on the door also and can be bought with cash or card.
