Between the Covid–19 pandemic and the transition of the UK to exiting the EU at the end of 2020, many people are considering whether to return to Ireland and others may have to move sooner than expected.
We believe it is important to work to ensure Irish emigrants are offered a continuum of support as they make their way back to Ireland from around the world, including from the United Kingdom.
The aim of this session is to provide practical information to help frontline workers to support Irish emigrants considering a return to Ireland from the UK.
Facilitated by Danielle Mc Laughlin of Crosscare Migrant Project, Karen McHugh of Safe Home Ireland, and Sarah Owen of Citizens Information Board, it is available to non–profit organisations across the UK providing welfare support to Irish emigrants, as well as recipients of Emigrant Support Programme funding and member organisations of the Irish in Britain.
This session will cover:
–Making a planned return, access to Nursing Home care, Health care on return, making referrals to Safe Home Ireland for housing options
–Returning in crisis, access to emergency accommodation/ housing supports and social welfare, and making referrals to Crosscare Migrant Project for advocacy support
–General information on returning to Ireland during the pandemic and information available on the Returning to Ireland page on CitizensInformation.ie
