The introduction of Universal Credit will affect how benefits and tax credits are paid in the future, we organised an event that took place on June 29th to explain the changes involved to Irish in Britain members, and the organisations they work with.

Introduction to Universal Credit: Melanie Black – Welfare Rights Advisor, London Borough of Camden, and Member of Welfare Committee at London Irish Centre.
Melanie will give a comprehensive introduction to Universal Credit and the challenges specific aspects may present to various categories of recipients.
Universal Credit in the Wirral: Maxine Williams – Irish Community Care, MerseysideIrish Community Care has been involved with the introduction of Universal Credit in Wigan, and their presentation will deal with that experience, what they have learned from it, and how they are developing their services to facilitate the transition of more challenged recipients to some of the more challenging elements of Universal Credit.
Innisfree (Housing Association)Tricia Goan – Innisfree Operations DirectorThis presentation will look at Universal Credit from the point of view of housing and one organisation’s forward planning to secure the best outcomes for the housing association and its tenants.
