County Dublin – Contae Bhaile Átha Cliath
Stepping up for the Dubs is Conrad Bryan, who was born in Dublin and now lives in London.
Conrad is a trustee at the Association of Mixed Race Irish and helped create its digital exhibition with the Mixed Museum last year. He was chair of the Health Committee at the Collaborative Forum in Dublin related to Mother and Baby Homes, and former treasurer at Irish in Britain.
An important and personal place for Conrad is St Stephen’s Green in the centre of Dublin city. It is surrounded by famous buildings like the Royal College of Surgeons, where Conrad’s South African father studied, and the Fusiliers’ Arch commemorating the Royal Dublin Fusiliers’ part in the Second Boer War.
Conrad asks that people take some time this St Patrick’s Day to remember and think about the thousands of children and mothers who spent time in the Mother and Baby homes across Ireland, and in particular in St Patrick’s on the Navan Road.
