The Clubs and Community Centres Development Team is part of the FIS Capacity Building Team. The team focuses on providing advice and support on a range of issues including governance, financial management, recruitment, promotion and government legislation.

Working closely with the Cultural and Community Development Teams we aim to help build on the current Irish Club Sector, by encouraging Clubs and Community Centres to engage with their current members whilst working to attract Britain's new professional cross generational Irish Community. To achieve this the FIS is supporting Clubs and Community Centres to promote Theatre, Dance, Music, Language, Sport, Literature and Food in order to offer an experience of Irish Culture within our social venues.

By embracing young people through education and sporting activities and providing outreach services into schools and youth clubs, our Clubs and Community Centres are providing local communities with a new sense of ownership and participation within their local centres. The Irish Club Sector is already experiencing the benefits of embracing culture and heritage in order to attract a wider membership.

FIS also faces the challenge of planning for new government legislation and has successfully worked with our members to prepare for changes in licensing and employment law. The Clubs and Community Centres Development Team will continue to offer guidance to our social venues on any current and future legislation that might affect them.
